Red Faction: Guerrilla, Volition Inc.’s upcoming multi-platform, third-person action title set in the long-running Red Faction universe, is scheduled for release on June 9, reports Shacknews.
Unlike previous Red Faction titles, which were all standard first-person shooters with the then-novel gimmick of offering players a chance to destroy the scenery with their weapons, Guerrilla is a third-person, open-world action game. A stylistic shift no doubt influenced by the recent success of the genre as seen in Grand Theft Auto IV and Fallout 3.
Those who lack the patience to wait more than two months for the game will be pleased to hear that a demo is planned for release on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 23.
